Research Student (PhD)

Yingluck finished her Ph.D. with FORRU at Chiang Mai University in 2018. Her dissertation was entitled: “Factors Affecting the Recruitment of Tree Species in Restored Tropical Forest in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand”. She performed her field work in FORRU's plot system at Ban Mae Sa Mai (the 1998, 2002 & 2006 plots), linking seedling recruitment with various site conditions, compared  with natural regeneration site (control site) and remnant forest (Dong Seng forest). Her research revealed that recovery of forest habitat and native tree species diversity restoration plots trended toward those of Dong Seng forest, whilst regeneration remained more arrested in the control plots: dominated by tall grasses and a few original remnant trees. The framework species method of forest restoration efficiently accelerated forest recovery faster than natural regeneration did. She now works at Kasetsart University's Lopburi Research Station on  agroforestry, forest restoration and agricultural ecosystems.
