Young Forest Restorers Celebration 2025 – Year 3
The Young Forest Restorers (YFR) project engages students in forest ecosystem restoration and conservation. It supports teachers and pupils develop science-base skills and knowledge through hands-on activities, empowering students to take an active role in restoring forest ecosystem. This project is funded by the Keidanren Nature Conservation Foundation.
We have organized the Young Forest Restorers activities throughout the past year and came together to celebrate the Young Forest Restorers Celebration – Year 3, marking another successful year of youth-led forest restoration efforts.
There were nine schools participated in this special event including, Varee Chiang Mai School, Chiang Mai Christian School, Mae Hor Phra Wittayakom School, Yupparaj Wittayalai School, Chiang Mai Univerisity Demonstration School, Christliche Deutshe Schule Chiang Mai, Chomthong School, Chiang Dao Wittayakom School and Panyaden International School.
A Celebration of Success and Creativity
The event highlighted the achievements of the Young Forest Restorers (YFR) program over the past year, particularly the restoration efforts at Pong Yaeng Nork and Ban Pong Krai in Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai. A special video presentation showcased the activities and progress made throughout the year.
School performances from Varee Chiang Mai School, Chiang Mai Christian School, and Mae Hor Phra School added excitement to the celebration. Attendees also visited school booths, where each participating school proudly presented their YFR projects and accomplishments.
Interactive Learning and Engagement
To deepen students' understanding of forest restoration, the event featured five hands-on activity stations:
- Seed Collection using VR – A virtual reality experience demonstrating the importance of seed collection.
- Seed Bank – Learning about seed storage and its role in restoration.
- Rapid Site Assessment using AR – Exploring forest health assessment through augmented reality.
- Birdwatching - Watching bird by using binocular and telescope
- Camera Trapping – Monitoring wildlife in restored forests
Collaborative Art Project – Creating the words "Young Forest Restorers" using recycled materials, symbolizing our commitment to sustainability.

The Young Forest Restorers Celebration 2025 was a day of inspiration, collaboration, and creativity, reinforcing our shared commitment to restoring and protecting our forests.
