Macaranga denticulata leaf

ABSTRACT: In an evergreen forest on Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai Province, multiple individuals of five tree species were observed monthly for their phenology, between March 2022 and February 2023: Baccaurea ramiflora, Cryptocarya amygdalina, Aphanamixis polystachya, Acronychia pedunculata and Macaranga denticulata. Comparing the data collected  with those of a study along the same trail, 24 years previously, revealed changes in reproductive phenology of two tree species. For C. amygdalina there was no flowering and fruiting as in the past and for A. pedunculata began flowering earlier than in the past. Knowledge of such changes in phenological behaviour may be useful for optimizing seed collection time to grow planting tree saplings for forest-restoration plantings.
